Hi Everyone!
I just heard about what has happened and what has been said about our leader David Prowse. This to me (here I go getting myself in trouble again), really really sucks. I can not believe they would really do this to him. I can see them not inviting me again (though I would love to come), But to say Dave can not come to CV or any other Lucas events is just wrong. He was the first and will always hold that honor. Dave is a friend of mine and I support him in this unfair decision. Since I am only your honorary leader and I am still very proud of this fact, I can only ask that you give Dave what ever kind of support he may need now and in the future. Lightning Bear PS I am sorry I have not been on in a while due to my health problems and from my Dad being put in hospice. |

It would be very wrong to stop Dave Prowse from attending any Star Wars meeting, the fans always want to meet him. It would be an insult to the people attending, if he cannot make events due to health then that is completely different, he has travelled the world flying the flag for Star Wars , a good v evil low budget movie,teaching us right from wrong. If only people listened to this in reality! I am personally not an autograph collector or celebrity hunter but still like to meet people who played a part in my favourite childhood movie. I hope some of these people can see the error of their ways and hold out the hand of friendship to Dave, something he hasn't had too much of over the years. Good luck Lightning Bear .

It is a shame that the politics of business filters down into fandom. Don't know all of the facts, but it is unfortunate. Lucas owns the rights to the character...Dave is still basically just an employee and no matter how much we all love him, the Boss still has the last say. I wish it were different. I wish we all lived in a better world...especially where our Icons and heroes are concerned.

What's this now? Prowse not allowed to attend? What the heck? That's just not right. I've met David Prowse, and he's a nice guy - even when he doesn't want to be where he is! I met him in Pittsburgh at a sci-fi/horror convention. The crowd was thin so I got to hang out with him for a while - probably about 45 minutes. I had him sign my TIE Fighter (LucasArts game) promo poster. He wanted to know where I got the t-shirt I was wearing so he could buy one. I had asked him if he'd read any of the Star Wars novels (which were all just starting to take off at that time). He told me that he wasn't really interested in Star Wars beyond the films and his direct involvement, which I could understand. |
